| Season :
November to April
Fly in / Walk out
The Course:
This is a unique 8 day course/ascent where the emphasis is on personalized,
hands on experience: including and ascent of Mnt. Aspiring. We not
only
teach you the skills you need but you will have plenty of time to
practice on ascents designed to match your ability. The highlight
of the course is an
ascent of Mnt. Aspiring where you will climb under the guidance
of a qualified guide/instructor. Summiting will depend on your fitness
and technical ability. If you have ever wanted to climb a classic
New Zealand peak but wondered if you had the "right stuff",
here is your chance to achieve your potential.
To give you the maximum private attention, the maximum ratio for
this course is 2 clients per guide. This course is run as a private
course only, this way you are assured of not having your learning
affected by the different ability levels that can occur in larger
groups.
If you and a partner are looking for the best possible way to maximize
the quality of your learning experience, this is the course for
you!

Equipment:
We supply all technical gear except for boots. You will not be surprised
with a large rental bill for equipment you may not own. For a complete
gear and clothing list click

Goals:
This course will begin with the basics. Not only will you learn
the technical skills but we cover all the topics you will need to
safely navigate and enjoy the high alpine. Your practice will culminate
in an ascent of Mnt. Aspiring where your guide will give you the
chance to safely put your skills into practice.
Experience and Fitness:
Since the Mnt Aspiring Alpine Skills Course is privately guided
you do not have to worry that you will be held back by the fitness
of others, however,
alpine climbing is a demanding sport. A high level of fitness is
required. No previous experience is required but to get the most
out of your trip you
should be used to sustained periods carrying a pack and be comfortable
on steep ground. Previous experience with ice axe and crampons is
recommended, but since you are a private group, we are happy to
take fit individuals who may have excelled in other endeavours but
as yet have not had a go at alpine climbing. The better condition
you are in, the more you will get out of this fantastic experience.
Your guide will make the final decision whether or not a summit
attempt is possible, but there are many smaller peaks in the area
for those who need additional practice.
Costs:
NZ$3200 per person (must be booked in groups of two)
Please note that this includes all technical gear that you will

often overlooked. There
are no hidden costs such as gear rental or flights in or out.
